    SKINNY ON FISH OILS

Looking to lose a little body fat this summer?
Well, researchers from Australia, have found that
fish oils have a positive effect in treating the overweight.
Along with reduction of body fat, this study (published in the
May issues of American Journal of Clinical Nutrition), found
that fish oils supplements also improve cholesterol levels and
body vessel activity. This could have an indirect effect in
general metabolism, even breaking down calories.
Fish oils have been famous for improved cognitive function,
and protection against cardiovascular disorders. Now, we can
add to this pile, "weight lost."
In a 12 week study, with 75 overweight volunteers, who were randomly
formed into 4 groups, for this study. One group consumed either six grams
of fish oil per day, along with 45 minutes of exercise 3 times a week.
The placebos group also followed the same exercise routine.
The study finds were, the fish oil group lost more body fat, than those in
the placebo group. Their omega three takers average losses of
3.5 lbs of body fat, more than the placebos takers.
Peter R. C. Howe of the University of Australia believes
"increasing intake of (omega 3 fatty acids), could be a useful adjunct
to exercise programs aimed at improving body composition and
decrease cardiovascular disease risk."
These two health factors go hand and hand, acceptable body
fat, and the battle against heart disease!
Remember the sign: " Eat fish live longer." How did they know this?

will interest his patients in the care of the human
frame, in diet, and prevention of disease."
